The title sounds like a riddle of some sort. Who has a cuteybaby, a blissful booty and a bright star?? Hmm, not sure I want to shout, “ME!” for that one. It just doesn’t sound right to call my derriere blissful.
But, my precious baby boys Sterling and Camden could be the answer! I’ve compiled three reviews (CuteyBaby, Blissful Booty and Bright Star Baby) into this post but first the winner of the Green Gamboni jeans!
Congratulations, Tiffany Seale!
I’ve used a lot of cloth diapers over the last 5 1/2 years. None are perfect but often each one has something that I love.
CuteyBaby has the softest knit PUL ever! I love petting minky (who doesn’t) but a cute, soft knit print is hard for me to resist.
PROS:
- Cute prints
- No pockets to stuff
- No removing inserts prior to washing
- Soft casings around legs
- Soft, non-scratchy velcro
- Absorbent soakers (microfleece topped quick dry microfiber soaker)
- Available in select Meijer and Albertson’s supermarkets.
- Cute fleece training pants!! Check out the CuteyBaby Etsy store.
CONS:
- Although there are supposedly waist snaps to shorten the waist, I really just want crossover velcro! It’s easier.
- Laundry tabs don’t stay closed
- HORRIBLE to spray out poop. My least favorite diaper to use a diaper sprayer on used to be Bum Genius Elementals…move on over BGE, Cuteybaby is a mess to spray out a huge, toddler poo :) Now wasn’t that a lovely visual?
- Made in China
One of the finest made cloth diapers. Virtually zero imperfections.
PROS:
- TRIM, TRIM, TRIM
- Gentle velcro, soft laundry tabs
- Pretty. I love the cut and design of Blissful Booty cloth diapers. It’s hard to explain but other reviews have said the same thing!
- Inner (think Thirsties) and outer leg casings!! Woohoo for poop containment!
- Back and front waist elastic. This is a MUST have for tummy sleepers or chunky belly babies. With our 3rd child I searched extensively for a front waist elastic diaper to fit tightly under her very round belly.
- Available in an XL 35+lb size. The newborn has a notch for umbilical cord
- The Wipe Water Concentrate is awesome!! I highly recommend Blissful Booty’s convenient concentrate and spray bottle system. Perfect for someone like me who likes it done for them yet still economical. Currently, I am using coconut…yummy!
- 4-pack package brings the price per diaper down to $16.
CONS:
- Reviews I’ve read claim Blissful Booty to be highly absorbent, even night-worthy. I have not found this to be the case. Maybe I need more prepping.
- Website doesn’t clearly explain what the soaker fabric is. I’m assuming it’s microfiber.
- Only available in 2 colors. Not a big deal really as both are pleasant and calming.
Bright Star Baby. (Facebook page)
Streeeeeetchy. Super soaker ready.
PROS:
- Side snap provides a much trimmer fit than front closing diapers.
- Hidden snaps. Soft leg elastic. No red marks.
- Very stretchy elastic. Would be great for a chunky baby.
- Bamboo/Cotton snap in soaker is quick drying and absorbent.
- Available hemp booster allows Ultimate Trim Fit AIO to be used at night.
- Made in USA! Firmly established parent company since 2006. They’ve been in and stayed in the business successfully for 5 years.
- Also, available are covers that have been raved about for years.
- Size 1 fits my 13.5lb 5wk old and my 25.5lb 23m old.
CONS:
- I can’t really think of any :)

I was just reading through this post and wondered what your thoughts are between the BSB AIO’s and the Ragababe Easy AIO or 2 Steps. I’ve been researching both brands but haven’t tried either… baby is still cooking. ;) I don’t mind spending a little extra if the quality really is there and I consider both brands a little spendy. I tend to like the idea of the 2 Steps to be able to re use the shell a few times before washing but it is covered with a fabric so is it really wipeable? And the AIO options seem like the absolute easiest for a VERY skeptical/reluctant daddy. This is baby #4 but our first one with cloth. He is all about convenience.
Thanks for any advice you might have!
Autumn Beck says
Have you looked into Best Bottoms?
C tibbets says
I Actually did buy a few BB used but the stay dry inserts seem bulky, escpecially if you add the doubler like they suggest for night time. Maybe looking for another stay dry insert option is what I should do.
Do you make updates to your recommendations page as time goes on… Like if there is a new favorite AIO or new fave whatever?? I was wondering if there are some new diapers that have come out since that was written that have changed you mind in some categories?
Thanks for all you do!

working on it right now…

Hi again!
So i broke down and purchased a few of the Blissful Booty diapers. they are WONDERFUL for my chubby girl. My only problem now, is the stink. I’ve had her in them for just under a week, and 3 out of the 4 smell of ammonia, and bad. I’ve soaked, and soaked, washed and washed, and the smell remains. Dare I use bleach? I’m so afraid of what it will do to my DD’s poor behind :(.
Cathy says
Hi!
First I am so happy that Blissful Booty is a good fit for your baby! With an ammonia smell, it’s likely detergent residue. Run your diapers through an extra hot wash with no soap a couple of times; if there are any suds, the detergent did not rinse out completely, and this residue is what causes the ammonia smell when the diaper gets wet again. Run your diapers through an extra cold rinse cycle after washing or use less detergent. What type of detergent are you currently using? To remove the smell that is already present, try Funk Rock from Rockin Green. I would not bleach the diapers as this can cause the PUL to break down very quickly, unless you use an oxygen bleach. Please let me know if I can help in any way.
thank you!

Hi Autumn! I’ve been CDing for 4 months now. I have only microfiber and wanted to try cotton. I bought 4 brightstarbabies with the snap in soaker on your recommendation. I like the fit but the liner seems to bunch up as my baby wears it. Must be I am used to pocket diapers. Is there any helping the bunching issue? Also- will the absorbency increase as I wash them?
Dawn, Bright Star Baby says
I’m not sure where the bunching is occurring but the first thing that comes to mind is to wonder whether the diapers are too large. The absorbency continues to increase with each wash and dry, and they need 6 to 8 washes and dries to get up to speed. Hope that helps!
Stephanie says
The bunching is occuring in the front as she wears them, but I bet as she grows they will fit a little better. She is17lbs and wearing the size 1. Thanks for the help!

I just got my first 2 bright star baby AIOs and I can’t get over how soft, stretchy and trim they are! I will definitely be getting more and can’t wait to see what new prints will be coming. If anyone has tried these at night, I would love to hear your experience. I bought the hemp booster but I’m still curious how something so trim could handle an all-nighter. Thanks for pointing me to Bright Star, Autumn!

Most of my stash is Bum Genius 4.0. I am wanting to try something else for the last few cloths I will buy. I am on a budget as I am using some of my last paycheck (to stay at home). I want to know if there is that big a difference between Blissfull Booty and Bright Start AOI’s to warrant a $4.00 difference in price (per)? I really hate to spend more than $17 on a cloth but will if’s really worth it. Blissfully Booty are $16 each, if you buy a 4.
Bright Start’s are 20.45 if you buy 4.
Although, Bright Start’s sizes last longer so maybe the price makes them worth it also? Or should I go another route? What do you “think” is best for the money, not over $21.00?
My little girl (Autumn also) is 7 weeks and 11 lbs.
Thanks SO much!
Autumn Beck says
I think you would enjoy Bright Star Baby more. They would fit longer and are more absorbent. Blissful Booty are super cute and easy but just not absorbent enough. She does sell doublers though but that would up the price/diaper.
Cathy says
Hi Autumn,
I have sent out some larger sizes for your toddler, and a box of boosters for Camden. I was SO surprised to hear that the diapers didn’t seem absorbent enough for you! Every other review of our diapers has stated that they had been super absorbent for them. We just had yet another review on Dibs! about another dry overnight experience. I hope that Sterling has better luck with absorbency, I am looking forward to hearing how they work out. Also, if a booster is needed, they are $9.99 for 5 which would bring the price to $18.00 per diaper.
Thanks so much for the great review of Blissful Booty!
Cathy
Blissful Booty
Autumn Beck says
Wow! Thank you, Cathy, for chiming in. I too was surprised that Camden is such a super soaker. I have read so many (many!) great reviews of Blissful Booty being nightworthy. You really have such amazing skills as a seamstress. Quality is something you notice right away. I’ll let you know how things work out.
Cathy Brown says
Thank you Autumn!! Looking forward to hearing the results! :)
Dawn Bucholtz says
Autumn, I think you would have the tighter/trimmer fit that you like with the Bright Star size 0.
The Bright Star size 1 is designed so that anyone – mom, dad, grandma – can grab it and put it on an infant or toddler without having to adjust any rise snaps or other settings.
There is also a size 2 available for larger toddlers, and it can be used as a trainer as well.

I’m interested in the Bright Star diapers but have a couple questions. Can you really get a good fit around the stomach with side snapping diapers? What is the difference between Bright Star and Fishnoodles since they are sold on the same sight? And how confident are you in their absorbency? Thanks!
Autumn Beck says
Yes, you can get a great fit around the stomach. It lays nice and flat. I’m not sure what, if any, differences there are b/w the 2 names. I have not used them overnight but have left one on Sterling many hours *blush*
Dawn Bucholtz says
Kelly, the difference between Fishnoodles and Bright Star was asked enough that we put up a comparison web page: http://www.brightstarbaby.com/pages/AIO-Comparison.html
Hope that helps!

How perfectly wonderful to have discovered your site, Autumn! I learn so much from your fantastic, in-depth reviews. I have tried my share of CD products during my 6 years of CDing our little ones and its very helpful to read your input, as our youngest is 7 1/2 month old and I find I like to add to my stash every now and then, according to our/her changing needs. I have some Bottombumpers and am quite pleased with overall performance (love the fit!), but am curious if you have ever done a face off with Bottombumpers, Bright Star baby, and Grasshopper? These diapers resemble each other quite a bit and Iwould love to know if one of them stands out over the other for you. Thanks!
Autumn Beck says
I have not used Bottombumpers. Bright Star Baby are stretchier than Grasshoppers but I feel like I get a tighter/trimmer fit with Grasshopper.

Hi Autumn,
With all the different types of diapers you have reviewed or used, have you ever tried Kushies? How do they compare against other brands?
Autumn Beck says
I hate to say this but Kushies were one of the worst diapers I used :(
Jenny says
I have tried cutey baby with no luck. Leaked everytime, but
they are cute and I love the concept.
Dawn Bucholtz says
Thanks for the positive review, Autumn. I thought the
Bright Star size 1 would fit both your new baby and your toddler –
5 weeks to 23 months is a big range! – and what I was going for
with this design.
Samantha Moore-Schwermann says
I LOVE my son’s aio bright star baby. One more pro I can think of is the super cute prints they have. The pirate diaper is by far the most adorable print I own.
Tiffany Seale says
Thanks again, Autumn! I love reading your reviews. They are all so helpful. One thing that really stands out to me is how different your kids are in size. On your charlie banana post, you have a pic of Sterling at 18mo/20lbs, and this post you have Camden at 5wks/13.5 lbs. My 7.5mo old is around 13.5 lbs. We’ve had some issues with docs saying breastfeeding is not successful because she is only in the 5th percentile for her weight. I have stood up to them and haven’t stopped nursing. I just have small kids. My oldest daughter was 17lbs from 10mos to almost 2 years old, formula fed. I just take notice to these things now and just wanted to say THANKS for helping me to not feel like such a bad mom.
Autumn Beck says
Yep, they are all very different!
Raychel says
I was under the impression that 5th percentile was normal, just on the small side. And you don’t any doc an explination about how you feed yoir kids. Next time just smile and nod.
And gonna have to get some bright stars now. Thanks for feeding the monster aAutumn
