Joyce @ Landry Parker Avenue (formerly Bagshot Row Bamboo Cloth Diapers):
When I opened up for business early this year, I thought that I had everything covered.
Great quality product–Check.
Facebook page set up–Check.
I worked hard on the products that I planned to stock in my store during my Grand Opening, and was beside myself with excitement about what I expected to be a successful experience selling.
The reality? Most of the people that were as excited as I was about my products were actually family and friends, many of which were glad to be a support on social media, but weren’t actually in the market for my products. When I didn’t sell out that first week (who was I kidding, right?) I began googling ways to market my product with the limited funds that I had on hand. Since I sell cloth diapers, one of my first searches landed me on the All About Cloth Diapers blog. I found their Facebook page, liked and followed them and got in contact with Jenn to inquire about whether she could do a review on my product. Jenn was quick to respond and offered me an option that was even better for my start up then a product review would have been. I was given the option to be a sponsor on the All About Cloth Diapers blog. For a minimal fee every month, visitors to the blog would see my brand logo and graphics, which included photos of my cloth diapers. They could click on the link and it would take them straight to my website!
The turning point in taking me from very few sales in several months was one specific perk that Jenn offers the sponsors on her blog. Imagine trying to market your product to a small audience of a hundred or two and then being given the opportunity to bust open your marketing potential by promoting your product to an audience of tens of thousands. As a sponsor, Jenn offers you the option of promoting giveaways of your product on her Facebook business page, which has a vast number of followers. After one giveaway promotion, my sales increased tremendously! I could never have done that working with the audience that I had to start with.
So, I’ve covered the benefit to my sales, which is one of the most important aspects of running a business, but I also need to tell you about my experience actually working with Jenn to become a sponsor and promote my business. I am a novice when it comes to social media, graphics and mostly technology in general. Jenn was an excellent communicator, explaining aspects of marketing and promotions that I was unaware of. She was diligent to point out areas that I could improve on my website’s structure, product display, other social media options that I could take advantage of using to help increase my marketing potential. Anything that I might have missed, Jenn had it covered.
I’m absolutely certain that working with Jenn from All About Cloth Diapers was one of the smartest business decisions that I’ve made thus far in my journey as a small business owner.
