This post has been generously sponsored by Bee All Natural. You’ve probably heard the warnings about using baby powder…words like cancer and respiratory issues. But is it really as scary as all that? In a word…
NOWhy use baby powder in the first place? Well… baby powder is a great way to absorb excess moisture and to reduce friction which both help to keep diaper rashes away. Baby powder is also a good choice for babies that are sensitive to moisture.
What’s up with the possibly scary stuff I mentioned above? Talc…There has been a ton of research done on the safety of talc in baby and cosmetic products. I’ve reached the conclusion that the jury is still out on this. But I feel like if there is so much controversy concerning it, why chance anything when we are dealing with our children?
The biggest concern comes from inhaling it. Let’s face it, when our baby has an issue and we try to fix it…we may go a little overboard. I know I’ve thought well if a little is good…then more must be better! But I’ve learned the hard way more than once that bigger isn’t always better. There is a reason all this stuff comes with usage directions.
There you are applying your store bought baby powder and POOF! A cloud of powder envelopes you and baby. No way around breathing it in.
Like I said, the jury is still out, but if there is even a chance of it being bad… I personally wouldn’t risk it. Here are a few links to reputable organizations and their thoughts on Talc.

Some of you may be saying (including Johnson’s & Johnson’s), “That’s why there’s corn starch baby powders now.”
I caution you that corn starch comes with its own issues. The reason you might be using a baby powder is to help clear a rash. But if the rash happens to be yeast the corn starch actually acts like miracle grow and accelerates it’s growth! Wow, who wants to do that when you are already dealing with yeast!

Bee All Natural started in 2009, when founder Rachel Nonis couldn’t find the healthy skin care products she was searching for. She was tired of buying so-called “natural” products that were in fact laden with perfumes, BPA, BPF, and lots of other nasty acronyms. So, what’d she do? She developed her own line that would be safe for the whole family, from baby to adult. Growing up on an organic dairy farm, Rachel believes in the connection between diet and health. She’s hand selected ingredients that fit this philosophy.

I have cerebral palsy and wear cloth diapers and plastic pants. The powder makes the diapers and plastic pants softer. Should I be concerned about the baby powder if it is used daily?
Jennifer Reinhardt says
as long as it’s not talc you should be completely safe.

Our 12 year old daughter is in puberty and bedwetting and i am using cloth diapers and plastic pants on her at night. She started the bedwetting last year just age 11 and broke out in rashes from goodnites and pull ups. I put the diapers and plastic pants on her at bedtime and use unscented baby powder on her with the cloth diapers.Upon reading the blog above,i may try the baby powder on see if she like it.I also dust her plastic pants with the unscented powder to keep them soft. When she made her First Communion back on June 2nd in the class of 2019,i put a pair of her plastic pants on her when i dressed her in her communion dress and veil and used the baby powder on her inside the plastic pants.

To allison- Our daughter is 14 and comming to the end of her puberty but still bedwetting because of it.When she started the bedwetting at age 11,we got her the cloth diapers and plastic pants [rubberpants] also to wear to bed at night and i have been using baby powder on her when i put the diapers and rubberpants on her before bedtime.I recently heard about the lawsuit against J&J saying that their babypowder has caused ovarian cancer in women who have used their powder.I stopped using the babypowder on the daughter and now use cornstarch powder on her.She will be recieving her Sacrement of 8th grade confirmation in two weeks on May 23 and per the dress code, the girls have to wear a white, poofy dress and veil with tights.Like the other girls in her class, she will have her diapers and rubberpants on under her tights with a tee shirt as her top.

Our daughter is 13 and bedwetting also because of puberty.I have been using cloth diapers and rubberpants on her since she started the bedwetting.I use the baby powder witl Lavender and Camomille in it on her when i put the diapers and rubberpants on her before bedtime. She loves the fragrance as do i and she doesnt smell like regular baby powder! She was the flowergirl in her aunts wedding back on July 24th and i did the diapers and rubberpants under her cute, poofy flowergirl dress with the lavender baby powder and the fragrance was very feminine! After the ceremony,i took the diapers off of her, sprinkled more of the powder inside the rubberpants, then put a pair of white ruffled panties on her over the rubberpants for the rest of the time.

Is regular corn starch baby powder cloth safe just for daily use? I have 3 big bottles from J&J and Aveeno that family gave me and I will never use up otherwise.

Love this article!! I tell friends and family all the time to use baby powder when they start talking about diaper rashes and skin sensitivities! Iv been using it since my first child was born and I have 4 kids now. My youngest is 17mo old and I full time cloth diaper 2 and still need might time cloth with a third. We use baby powder every single night and when they will be exposed to wetness for longer periods of time than usual. It’s helped my chubby girl with chafing and my older son with his incredibly stinky feet! Lol. I haven’t heard of this brand so thank you for the coupon code! I will be going now to check it out ?
