Have you always wanted to buy the “nice” diapers but couldn’t afford them? You know, the ultra soft minky ones. Or how about just being able to try a number of different brands without breaking the bank?
I’ve always shied away from the cheapie Made in China diapers but I’m so glad I decided to buy a Kawaii Baby cloth diaper. For $10 I didn’t think I’d be that sad if it was a totally bomb.
If you’ve looked at Kawaii Baby cloth diapers you quickly noticed there were a number of different kinds. By kinds I mean:
- Kawaii Baby Snazzy Minky One-Size Pocket
- Kawaii Green Baby Minky Bamboo One-Size Pocket
- Kawaii Baby One-Size Heavy Duty Pocket
- Kawaii Baby One-Size Snap Closure Pocket
- Kawaii Baby Goodnight Heavy Wetter One-Size Pocket
- Kawaii Baby Pure & Natural Pocket (0-15 months)
I have thoroughly tested out the Snazzy Minky, Minky Bamboo and Heavy Duty pockets. All have exceeded my expectations.
When I use the Kawaii Baby diapers I always double stuff them with microfiber inserts, whether it’s day or night. I have left them on Sterling for many day hours and overnight (all of them) and not had a leak yet.
Sterling is not a stomach sleeper, however the Minky Bamboo style has the Mom Label option which has an added panel for wetness protection.
Why do I love Kawaii Baby cloth diapers…besides the insanely affordable price and no-leaks??
Because they are easy to stuff, fit awesome and I love the cow minky (I have 4!).
I’ve tried 3 different closure styles (snaps, square tab aplix and small tab aplix) and all work well. The Minky Bamboo is snaps and thankfully has a second row of snaps for the legs. Many cheap diapers skip this row which leads to major wing droop on skinny babies.
We used the Minky Bamboo last night (Sterling is not a super soaker at night) and there was no wetness outside or around the legs.
The Snazzy Minky diapers that I have are all square tab aplix. It isn’t a super strong aplix but it has never come off and oddly enough Sterling has never tried to take it off…I guess he likes it too much!
Of the 3 styles that I have the Heavy Duty is the “nighttime” style. Obviously, if I didn’t have problems with the other 2 at night this one performed the same. I did leave the Heavy Duty on for a super long time in order to really try it out. After 15 hours :) (I put it on at 7pm and changed him at 10am) he was dry. Perfect!
There are so many different choices under the Kawaii Baby brand. If you have a closure preference you’ll find it in one of their styles.
The main site for Kawaii Baby cloth diapers is The Luv Your Baby site. However, you can purchase a variety of Kawaii Baby cloth diapers from almost any cloth diaper retailer.
I’d love to hear your success with Kawaii Baby diapers too! Let those who haven’t tried them due to doubt finally feel confident in buying an inexpensive, yet highly functional brand.
Kawaii Baby cloth diapers are also a great option if you want others (like my amazing 8yr old daughter) to change diapers!

I bought three Kawaii Goodnight Heavy Wetters this summer (June 2020) for a night diaper, and I’m wondering if they’ve gone through a poor design change… they have a tag sewn directly onto the TPU shell on the back side of the diaper. In the morning, this little tag was very wet, the only spot on the outside of the diaper. Once PUL/TPU is punctured, the waterproof integrity is compromised. I hope this won’t be an issue long term if I make sure I have enough absorbency. Otherwise these will be for daytime only. I love how soft, sturdy, and luxurious my Kawaiis feel for the price, but the leaky stitching around the tag is unfortunate.
Jennifer Reinhardt says
I’d recommend giving the cover a run through a hot dryer. Sometimes that is all it takes to fix the issue. The other thing you might try is if you have any waterproofing spray like for camping or shoes give it a spritz on the area that seems wet. I appreciate you letting me know your experience. I haven’t heard this from anyone else, but I’ll do some research. Thank you!

I know this post is older, but hopefully you’ll see this! :) Do you use the Kawaii Microfiber Inserts or a different brand? Would LOVE to know which inserts you recommend!
Jennifer Reinhardt says
I actually donated all my microfiber inserts a while ago. My favorites are the Geffen Baby Super Absorber Plus, Thirsties Hemp Inserts, and Humbird Exceptional absorbers :)

I have tried quite a few of their diapers and so far my favorite is the little green baby bamboo diapers. It is so easy for my husband to use and fits her perfectly…for now. The only complaint I have is that I wish they were OS. :( I will be trying their Minky Bamboo Charcoal when she grows out of these and they are OS. I just made the switch not too long ago so finding cheap ones to bulk up my stash helped a lot. And they come in cute patterns!

Thank you for this article! My sister in law swears by this brand (and the love your baby website) but I haven’t heard much else from other people. I just bought a stash of 24 heavy wetters last night for a steal (just over $5 each and free shipping!). This article makes me feel much more comfortable about my purchase!
Jennifer Reinhardt says
Thanks Branda! Where did you ever find Heavy wetters so cheap? I’ve never seen them go below $9 or $10.
Elizabeth says
I found the Heavy Wetters for that price on Ebay and the lucyourbaby website has it under weekly deals.

Hi Autumn…i bought a few styles of Kawaiis. I am new to cloth diapers. I found they all leaked in front within two hours. You said in your review that you always use two inserts. Stupid question…when diapers come with two inserts, should you always use both at the same time? Will this solve my leaking problem? Also, Kawaii said to wash in cold water only. Do you use warm or hot water? Thanks! Debbie.
Jennifer Reinhardt says
Hi Debbie! I use and love Kawaii as well. The amount of absorbency you need varies with the age, size, and amount of fluid intake of a child. I wash these like all of my diapers, warm prewash, hot wash with soap, rinse, and extra rinse. Make sure that you don’t have gaps anywhere, especially around the legs. How big is your baby? If the child is small and you are using the one size, it may still be too big and that might be causing the leaks. ~Jenn

you do not always need to use 2 inserts… i dont… i only use 2 at night with my little one and she is 17 months. I LOVE MY KAWAII DIAPERS!

Thanks for posting this! My sister in law is looking at using cloth diapers too so I’ve been on the look out of cheap diapers that will work well for her! Thanks again!

Thanks for the review. I loved reading the comments too. We’re expecting our first, and I have only one Kawaii diaper (a good night heavy wetter). Looking forward to trying it out and seeing how it works on our little girl! I’m waiting on buying more diapers until we test out the ones we have, but it’s great to read how many people have had such great success with Kawaiis!

Thanks for the helpful review of Kawaii diapers! I found someone locally selling their lot of these and scooped it up for a great price. My baby is still newborn so we haven’t graduated into using them yet, but I’m really excited!

I have a questions about how long they last. I’ve heard that brands like BumGenius hold up perfectly even after two years plus of use. What about the Kawaii diapers?

I am a huge fan of Kawaii diapers. I shop http://www.theluvyourbaby.com site for mine. I am on daughter #2 (5 months old). Some of her covers were used on her older sister, who is now 3 yrs. old. There’s a little wear and tear on the velcro but overall the covers are just as good today as they were when I bought them 3 yrs ago. :)

I’m having a baby in a few months and I’ve been researching cloth diapers quite a bit. Kawaiis look like a win/win as far as cost and quality go, but I’ve noticed that you and some others who love them and find them virtually flawless still rank other brands, like BumGenius, above them. Is there a reason for this? I’m tempted to buy the superpack of Kawaiis and be done with it, but I keep wondering if there’s something I’m missing.
Thanks for the great website. It’s so very helpful for the uninitiated, like me :)

I don’t think you will be disappointed with Kawaii diapers. They don’t provide as good of a fit as other brands for my children so that would explain why some rank other brands above. Each baby is so different.

My brother just had his first baby and I would like to get him some kawaii diapers. I think this will be something he will be interested in, but I dont have any experience with cloth diapers. I am not sure which ones to get him started with. I dont have any kids myself so all the help and advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I have to say from my own experience that Kawaii diapers are the best! Thanks for good review, also if you still doubt buying those – I found some great review about the disposable diapers health issues and comparison on http://www.kawaiidiaper.blogspot.com

I use the kawaii baby cloth diaper covers and I have a cloth diaper service. I have a 3mo old daughter and 2 older boys that I disposable diapered. I love and prefer the cloth! I brag about how easy it is and try to sway everyone over to the cloth world. I have the cover that has a lip on the inside / front part of the diaper that I put the prefold cloth into. I can use the same cover until there is a stool with no odor or stains….sometimes only using 2 covers a day. The service is wonderful- it’s called pannolino diaper service and I love getting my fresh cloths once a week!! The only time my covers leak is when I need to up the cloth size which is based on baby’s weight, then when I have the correct cloth size the leaking quits- that is how I know I need the next size. It is very easy even my husband doesn’t mind because i have all of the diapers prepared and ready in the bin. And the Velcro closure makes it almost exactly the same as disposable. For the price and the value I M a huge fan of kawaii baby diaper covers- highly recommend getting a cloth service too! So easy!

I bought 6 Kawaii diapers and the very first one I put on my 3 month old leaked. I haven’t and won’t put another one on him. It made me so mad that I’m giving them away. I found the pocket to be narrow, making them a pain to stuff; I don’t have huge hands but I don’t have teeny tiny hands either. I’m fairly new to cloth diapering but I’ve tired BumGenius pockets as well and don’t care for those either… I personally find pocket diapers nasty(just personal preference… I had SEVERAL friends who love them recommend them). I do LOVE my Flip diapers though. :)

Were they prepped enough? Ihave a super heavy wtter, and I never had a problem, Kawaii’s are my favorite. Too bad they didnt work for you :(

I’ve got 18 Kawaii diapers mixed (Goodnight Heavy Wetter, One Size Heavy Duty and One Size Snap Closure) and I’m using them on my newborn since he’s 4 days old (now he is 24 days old). During the first week It did ok, but in the second week I started having leaking problems with all the diapers (they do not leak at all changes, but all the different kinds leak). I did the test with both the inner and the inserts and they are absorbing very well and quikly. I’m using just a little bit of soap (here in Brazil I don’t know any soap specially made for diapers but i’m using coconut liquid soap), Sometimes he stays for a while with a diaper (and then I understand the leaking…), but sometimes, even changing him after 1 hour, the diaper is already leaking!! I can use only one insert because otherwise it would be too bulky as he is still small… The leak occurs at his legs, more precisely at the sewing.
Does anyone have any idea of wath can be hapening and how I can figure it out?? I really loved his diapers and wnat very much to keep using them, but leaking all day is terrible!!! :((
Thanks!!!!!
Fe says
I know it’s been a while since you posted this, but all brands that I considered says that coconut based soap is a no-no for cloth diapers, since they lead to build ups that can cause leakage. You can try to add lemon juice or vinegar to your rinse cycle to handle the oil/film build up.

Hello! I have been doing research on cloth diapers for quite a while now (total research time = aprox. 15-20 hours…so far) Sad, I know…my family has told me as much, but I know I want to do cloth diapers when I have children. I want to be kinda prepared when that time comes. My husband and I are hoping to have children in the near future. — So, anyway, I have some questions so please bear with me. Any feedback will be GREATLY appreciated! First, before I get started, let me thank you for this website…it is so wonderful and such a help!!
OK, now, first of all, I know I want to do the OS Pocket diapers. I wouldn’t be closed to some prefolds once in a while, but the pocket system seems most ideal for me. So, is this a good thing to do as long as I can afford it? Or is it best to have other systems too? I mean, would it work just fine if I use ONLY OS pockets??
I saw your suggestions for diapers and have researched all of those and many more! I like, by the sounds and looks of them, the following ones. Do you HIGHLY recommend any of these above the others or have a better idea all together? Here are the ones I like the sounds of:
1) FuzziBunz OS Pocket
2) Rumparooz G2 OS Pocket
3) Bumgenius 4.0 OS Pocket
4) SoftBums OS Pocket …Omni?…I don’t quite remember which one I liked. Do you recommend one in particular for the SoftBums?
5) Kawaii OS Pocket – I didn’t really read up on this one too much until you recommened them, then I read the reviews and liked them…especially the price. I think there was one that was especially good for overnights or heavy wetters. What are your thoughts on the different Kawaiis?
*I was looking today and came accross a couple of diapers that tickled my fancy and I wanted to ask you about them. One is the LolliDoo Overnight OS Eco Pocket diaper. It sounded good and looked comfortable…what is the word from you on this one? Also, the DryBees Fleece Night Time Pocket. Anything to say about either of these? I know the DryBees isnt a OS diaper and that is ok with me.
ONE MORE Q’s then I will leave you alone for now. :) What is a Nappy? I see that term and just can’t figure it out. Is it just a brand or a certain type of diaper or what? Thank you so much –to anyone who can offer help!! :)
Autumn Beck says
Yes, OS pockets are an excellent choice. You could have just OS pockets and be just fine.
All the pockets you have listed are excellent! *if* I had to rank them I’d say 3, 2, 1, 5, 4.
Lollidoo I didn’t like at all. Bulky and stinky for toddlers. Haven’t tried Drybees.
Nappy = cloth diaper in Australia and Britain (and probably everywhere else but the U.S.)

I have bought some kawaii diapers (one size bamboo and one size snap). I find on the bamboo ones that the layer closest to my LOs bum tends to stay fairly damp, so i have to change the whole diaper each time whereas with the one size snaps i can change the inserts only a couple of times before the liner becomes moist. I have now washed the bamboo 2-3 times since purchasing them (not including the prewash) Is there a way to prevent that layer from retaining so much moisture? I love the look and feel of the bamboo minkys but tend to avoid them since i have to change the diaper each time (sucks since I bought 10 of them)
Erin says
AK, I saw your comment and thought I would reply since I mainly use Kawaii (but I have only been CD since Jan.). It’s my understanding that pocket diapers are designed to only be one use. I think if the layer that touches the baby’s skins is dry it’s OK to just change the insert, but I think it’s designed to change the whole diaper at one time, kind of like an all-in-one.
We have some of the bamboo and love them, but you are right, they are not really stay-dry. They are more stay dry than some of the cotton fitteds we have, but the baby will feel a lot more moisture than w/ a microfleece or microsuede inner. I like my bamboos and stay-dry Kawaiis for different reasons. I like that the bamboos are a natural fiber, but I like that the fleece and suede keep my babies’ skin dry. I put my girls in the fleece or suede cloth if we are going out for a long time, going to church, etc.
That said, the bamboos will keep getting more absorbent until about 10 washes. I actually love using 2 of my bamboo right now for overnight! I’ve been using them for about a month overnight on my almost 3-year-old, and we’ve had no leaks!! I waited about 2 months before even trying overnight. At first, I double stuffed it w/ the bamboo inserts and included a soaker b/c I was scared she would soak through. However, now I just put in the two inserts, and she is dry ALL night and even a couple hrs in the morning if I am a bad mommy and don’t change her immediately!
I hope this helps! I think everyone ends up w/ a personal preference. If it’s important to you that your baby’s skin isn’t wet at all (or barely at all), you may want to sell your bamboo and stick w/ fleece/suede. However, the bamboos might grow on you! They will definitely be an asset when you want your LO to potty train and feel when he/she is wet!!
I also love my Kawaii heavy wetters for overnight…no leaks and none or barely any wetness on my girls’ skin!!
Dana says
Hey, I am also new to cloth diapers and was wondering if the nighttime heavy wetters are good for use during the day also. I am trying to find a diaper that is going to fit well on my 2 year old–I have some medium Fuzzibunz but they are just fitting and i was wondering if a onesize diaper would fit bigger than that.
If anyone has a larger child in a kawaii diaper can you let me know how big your child is and what type of diaper you use. I am not concerned about nighttime use, just daytime!
thanks

I am relatively new to cloth diapering. My LO is 3 months old and I’ve been cloth diapering him for 2 months now. I LOVE my Kawaii baby diapers but looking for suggestions on how to resolve staining. I’ve read a lot of reviews of ppl saying they never get stains. I EBF, after i change him, I take the insert out ant throw both in the wet bag. When I was I do a prerinse, wash, then rinse (using a HE washer) I have tried a couple different laundry soaps and that doesn’t seem to effect the staining. Most of the time I hang inserts over the edge of the railing in the house (its still cold here) and the inserts that are stained I bring outside to sun to get rid of the stains. Any suggestions for resolutions for this?
Kelly says
Have you tried Bac-Out? I spray my diapers with it before I toss them in the laundry bag. I have 1 Kawaii with a suede cloth lining and that one does get stains no matter what.
Lori says
I keep a bucket of cold water in the laundry tub with baking soda in it. I put my diapers and inserts in in throughout the day. At night I do a cold rinse cycle, hot wash cycle, & extra rinse. I have no stains on my microfleece or suede cloth. If you have a bad diaper, use Bac out.
Amy says
Do you do a cold* prewash then hot? Starting out with hot will cook the stains in rather than wash them out. I learned this the hard way when I forgot to switch the temp back to cold for a prewash. But next time I washed I did a cycle on cold with no detergent then started a hot wash, let it fill and added my normal detergent (crunchy clean…I <3 the scent) plus a little over a half scoop of oxyclean (mixed opinions I know) then let it finish and did an extra rinse and checked for suds. Viola! No stains. They say you can do this every wash but to avoid build up I'll just do it maybe once/twice a month or as needed. I hadn't had any stains before when I was doing cold wash/hot wash/warm rinse. Hope that helps. You could also try something like bac out or rockin green. I hear they work wonders. I plan on ordering some rockin green samples soon. :)

I am from Quebec, Canada. I have a few questions about Kawaii Baby cloth diapers. Sorry if my words are misspelled, i’m french.
I would like to know witch inner keeps the baby’s bumm dryer:
-microfleece inner
-suede cloth inner
-bamboo inner.
And I wanted to make shure what the word inner meens? Is it the inside of the diaper (touching the bumm) ?
Thank you very much for your help. :)
Autumn Beck says
microfleece and suede cloth are pretty much the same as far as keeping baby dry. suede cloth is easier to shake solids off of. suede cloth also has a higher incidence of babies being sensitive to it. bamboo is natural and does allow some dry feeling. inner is the part of the diaper touching baby’s skin.
marilou says
thank you very much for the anwser. Did you guys see the new diapers desing in the print collection? I LOVE THEM. My son will be so cute in them. I will order soon. He is not born yet but in may he will. Have a nice day
Merideth says
I have been washing them with All Free and Clear detergent. I was them on hot with an extra rinse cycle. Then I dry them on low heat. If I don’t wash them on hot, it seems that they still have a smell to them. Was that a bad idea? What wash routine would you recommend?
Merideth says
I just purchased 18 regular Kawaii diapers about two weeks ago. I LOVED them at first, but just two weeks later, we’re already having major leaking issues. Just getting her home from daycare yesterday (20 min drive)… I changed her right before I left, and she had already leaked through by the time we got home. I had this problem with her other cloth diapers, and purchased the Kawaii because of the great ratings… Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong???
Autumn Beck says
Can you tell me where the leaking occurs? Also, do a test to see if the fleece is repelling…lay the diaper flat and drop water on it. Does the water soak in or ball up and roll?
Merideth says
The leaking sometimes occurs around the leg, but mostly, it’s the entire bottom that’s soaked – almost like she’s not even wearing a diaper. I tried the water test, and the fleece is absorbing the water. It seems like there might be a problem with the ability of the plastic to keep the moisture in… is that possible?
Autumn Beck says
:( Yes, sounds like the PUL may be delaminated. I would contact the store you bought them from. However, since you have had this problem with other diapers I am wondering what your wash routine is? Also, what inserts are you using? If you are just using 1 microfiber insert it’s quite possible that she is just flooding it. Have you tried more absorbency? Hemp?

Sure, there are other brands of diapers manufactured overseas, but the owners of the companies are involved in the manufacturing, they visit the factories where the diapers are made. And comparing a company like bumGenius to a company like Kawaii diapers (in terms of price) is like comparing apples to oranges. They have a marketing department, a fat advertising budget, a customer service department, a wholesale department, etc. While some ppl may bemoan paying for ‘all that’, ‘all that’ helps promote cloth diapering awareness. Companies like Kawaii diapers would not exist if not for the other well-known brands.

Regarding the ‘made in China’ comment on CDs, many American brand CDs are now made in China ie FB. Not sure if they are paying their workers more. They may be just pocketing more profit. Still, it is providing jobs for someone.

That’s so true! The Stay-Dry Flip inserts, which are one of the most popular cloth diapering system right now, are also made in China (not the covers, though – those are made in Egypt), as are the Sweet Pea AIO diapers, which retail for a lot more than the Kawaii (more than twice more, in fact).

Hello! I’m new to cloth diapers, so I’ve been reading your reviews to see which diaper would be the best choice. My only concern is that where I live we have super hot and humid summers. How cool/breathable are these diapers? I’m afraid that after playing outside, my daughter will be covered in sweat when I change her diaper. Thanks!!

We have 10 Minky, 10 Heavy Duty, and 10 covers and absolutely love them!! We have been using them for 13 months and have had no staining, no leaks, and they all still look and feel brand new. The elastic has held up tons better than the 1 Bum Genius we have, and the Velcro is still super sticky. I love, love, love them! Even without laundry tabs the fleece inners still look great!
Arikan says
I have 6 of them and truly they are my favourite diapers, even when I lend some to my friends to try out I always give these! I, too, was surprised at the quality, well made, no leaks in the last 5 months since we have been using them, good for night as well and the price is unbeatable.
The only thing that I don’t like is that mines have no laundry tab, and I alwasy have to stick the velcro to the fleece inner, I don’t know what it will look like in a year.
Erin says
I am so excited about ordering these for my baby! Please help me out, though. I am BRAND new to CD. This will be my FIRST to try! DD is 8 weeks old and probably about 12 1/2 pounds now. She sleeps about 7 hours straight at night. What diaper would you recommend? Help please!
France says
Erin, I would personally recommend you get the Heavy Duty style with the microfleece inner. It’s the easiest to use because of the velcro closures, and it doesn’t leave red marks on your baby’s legs and back (this can be a problem sometimes with other Kawaii diapers). The “luvyourbaby” website says they are out of stock at the moment, but they will be back in stock at the end of January. I have five of this style and love them – they are really high quality and NEVER leak. (I also have five Fun Print Snap Closure diapers, and they look great and never leak, but they leave red marks on my baby’s skin, so I stopped using them.)
Erin says
Thanks, France!
Erin says
France, I am BRAND new to CD. Before I got your message, I ordered one fun print and one heavy duty ultra soft with snaps. They are both leaving red marks on my chunky 9-week-old’s legs and back. She is a very laid back baby, and it doesn’t seem to be bothering her. Would it be bad to still use these diapers during the day? (I equate it to elastic marks left on me by underwear that I don’t feel but may notice when I change clothes.) Did you LO complain and that’s why you chose not to use them at all?
I also wonder if the marks won’t be a problem if she slims down once she starts crawling/walking? My 2 1/2-year-old is very slim, so perhaps I should try these on her?
I love the diapers, but I am a little disappointed in the red marks.
France says
Same here, love the diapers, but disappointed in the red marks from my Fun Prints. No, my baby did not complain (I’m guessing LO stands for “little one”? I am not new to CD (been doing it for almost four years), but I am to chatting about it, so I still have to guess what all the abbreviations mean, lol!), and, to tell you the truth, she is wearing a Fun Print right now, since all my Heavy Duty with Velcro are in the laundry at the moment. I am planning on ordering more Heavy Duty Velcro diapers though, so I can stop using my Fun Prints altogether. I guess it’s not the end of the world if your baby does not seem in pain, but as a mom, the red marks are something I would rather avoid, you know? Anyway, if you are planning on ordering more, I would suggest the Heavy Duty with Velcro and microfleece inner (I read the ones with the microsuede inner also leave red marks), and I was thinking of trying the Bamboo Minky, which are also supposed to be great. I haven’t read one single “red mark” complaint about these so far. Also, I read you can try to stretch out the elastics by putting the diapers a few minutes in the dryer on the HOT setting, and then figuring out a way to stretch the elastics on a metal clothes hanger with clothes pins, and leaving them stretched on the hanger for a day or so, if that makes any sense, lol! Haven’t tried it yet though.
Erin says
France, Thanks again for your help! Yes, LO means “little one”! :) We got two more Kawaii in the mail yesterday–a heavy duty micro inner with velcro and an animal print nighttime diaper (gifts from my mom for Christmas!). I was disappointed when I took off the heavy duty velcro one in that it, too, left red marks. :( I’m going to have to try the stretching thing. I haven’t tried the nighttime diaper yet. I had already ordered 6 more from Sweetbottoms Baby before I noticed that they all are leaving red marks. Those should be in the mail tomorrow. They were out of the minky bamboo, but that might be my best bet.
I’m wondering if my baby is just too chunky for these diapers? :( Although, the diaper itself (inside and the part on her bottom and really everywhere except back and legs) seems super comfy!
France says
(Erin, for some reason there is no “Reply” under your comment below, so I am replying up here instead.) That’s too bad. :( Does your Heavy Duty have microSUEDE or microFLEECE? I had heard of the one with microsuede leaving marks, but not the microfleece, which works great for us. When you say “I’m wondering if my baby is just too chunky for these diapers”, do you mean Kawaii diapers, or cloth diapers altogether? Because, you know, not all cloth diapers leave red marks. So far, I’ve tried several kinds, and most did not leave marks on my two chunky babies (I have a five-month old right now, and she is in the 95th percentile, so she is quite chunky!) The diapers that have left red marks are the Happy Heinys and the Kawaii Fun Prints, but I also have the following diapers, and they have NEVER left red marks: 1 Bum Genius, 3 Fuzzy Bunz Medium Perfect Size, 1 Flip System and 2 Mommy’s Touch. Most of these are much more expensive than the Kawaii, however, which is why I would like to complete my stash with more Kawaii. The Flip system is quite inexpensive though, so maybe you could try to buy just one and see if it works for you? As for me, I will try the Kawaii Minky Bamboo, and if it’s also too tight, I will complete my stash with either the Heavy Duty with fleece inner or some Flips. Let me know if the stretching thing works, if you try it! One last thing: I have a question for you: you said before that you had a “heavy duty ultra soft with snaps”, but the Heavy Duty only comes with Velcro as far as I’m concerned. Did you mean the “One Size Snap Closure – Ultra Soft Cross-Over Square Tab”? (I’m just trying to figure out which Kawaii cause red marks and which don’t!)
Erin says
France, thanks again! I hope someone else can also read our conversation and learn from it! :)
Everything I’ve tried so far has microfleece, although I received my shipment in the mail today with one suede, and I’m excited to try it once I get it prepped!
I meant too chunky for Kawaii and not all CD. A local girl who sells HH and FB is going to let me try them next week. I just love the price of Kawaii, though. We are on a very limited budget. That said, with your encouragement and a little more research, I think I’m gonna make these Kawaii work!
Today I didn’t snap the wing/hip snaps on the ultrasoft snap diaper (didn’t use the fun prints today, but I will try it that way next time, too). After wearing it for about 2 hours or so, my LO had very faint red marks (like those left from a disposable), but that was ALL! I think until she leans up a bit, I may just have to not snap the wing/hip snaps to make it work! I also used the heavy duty velcro and just didn’t make it as tight, and there were NO red marks after 2 hours! :)
You are right–it wasn’t the heavy duty, but it was the Ultra Soft Cross-Over Square Tab (in light green) that left the red marks. It’s the one that I didn’t snap the hip snaps on today. Honestly, I think I will stick to the other kinds. To me, that kind seemed almost identical (except for the print vs. solid) to the cut of the fun prints. They were the first ones I ordered and used. I don’t think I’ll order any more fun prints.
I got a round tab in the mail today and can’t wait to use it b/c the elastic on the legs looks a lot different–much looser looking than the fun print and snap square tabs.
My baby is 95% too!
I haven’t tried the stretching yet, but I did hang them to dry today instead of put them in the dryer. I read that it will make them last longer. :)
France says
Hi Erin, well, I think others WILL read our conversation, because Autumn just put it up as a new article on her home page, did you see?! (It’s the new post from December 29.) Let me know how the round tabs with snaps work – I was thinking of trying that one as well. I will place an order soon and try the snap round tabs as well as the Minky Bamboo. I’m sure we will both end up finding a Kawaii that we love! I will also stop fastening the hip snap, as you suggested, which is a really great idea. If you’d like, we can continue this conversation under the new article (it’s called Cloth Diaper Q&A Vol 3 Which Kawaii to Buy), so others can also benefit from our conclusions!
Erin says
Hi France! I never wrote back! After using the Kawaiis for about a month now, I really like the round snaps (NO red marks) and heavy duty velcro (no red marks). I like the bamboo minky (no red marks!), but they don’t seem to keep her as dry on the inside as the microfleece lining. I’ve had no leaks at all. I really like the green animal heavy wetter. the leg openings seems bigger than the purple.
How has your experience been? :)
Kerri says
What inserts does everyone prefer for the Kawaii pockets? They typically come with the mircrofiber inserts but they also sell the bamboo inserts. Which do you prefer of these or do you use a different brand of insert?
Autumn Beck says
i’ve used both and prefer the microfiber. i’ve also used a number of different brands and they all work.
Heather says
Hi! I have both the microfiber and the bamboo and I love them both, for different reasons.
the microfiber inserts hold much more than the bamboo, in my opinion. But the feel of the bamboo inserts is amazing, much softer and heavier than the mf. I have tried both with success, and have to tell you, were I to do it over again (we have twins and have 32 Kawaii right now) I would go with the bamboo diapers mostly and only have a few of the minky mf ones. They do an amazing job and feel so good to my hands–I can just imagine what my girls are thinking when I put them on their butts! :) lol
I would however, only use the mf for overnight because I dont think the bamboo holds nearly as well for that long. :) Hope this helps!
Kelly says
Has anyone tried the Kawaii covers with prefolds?
raye says
I have, and they are great! No leaks whatsover. They have the same front pocket to hold the prefold in like Thirsties do, but they are way more durable. The covers work awesome with those covers that go over microfiber inserts.
Miranda says
I’ve been using Kawaii for four months now on my daughter. I have both the heavy duty hook and loop closure, and the minky/mf in every option offered on the site.
While I really like the heavy duty style, and I think the minkys are adorable, I just want to give a heads up to potential buyers that the heavy duty style have a VERY different cut than the minky diapers. Also, the cut of the minky daipers vary from fabric pattern to fabric pattern.
I have found that the cow print, black and white polka dot print, and leopard print, diapers are all cut very wide through the crotch, making the leg opening quite small when I pull the top around baby’s belly to a comfortable tightness. My daughter is quite chunky around the leg compared to her tummy size, and the prints I mentioned just do not fit her. If I pull them around tight enough on top, they are way too tight around the legs.
If you have a big legged baby, then I would suggest staying away from those particular prints, but otherwise Kawaii is a great diaper for your money. I’ve been very happy with all of the other diapers I have bought from them. Try buying just one or two of a few different styles offered before forking over a lot of cash for multiple diapers in one style that looks cute, but might not fit. (Wish I had done that.)
I’m going to try performing a little surgery on a couple (I bought a lot) with some scissors and sewing machine and see if I can make the ones that don’t fit usable for us.
France says
I have the same problem with my Kawaii fun prints (in purple daisy): it leaves red marks on my daughter’s chunky legs. The heavy duty fits her perfectly, but, as I prefer snaps, I am looking for a Kawaii diaper with snaps that would be bigger around the legs, so I just wanted to check: you say that the cow print, black and white polka dot print, and leopard print have smaller leg openings, and I was wondering about the “brown symbol” print, which looks a little like a leopard print. Have you tried the brown symbol print, and does it have bigger leg openings? Thanks!
Miranda says
Yes, the cow print, white with black polka dot, and leopard print are all tight around the leg. I’m not sure about the symbol print because I didn’t like that one and didn’t buy it. I did, however buy both velcro and snap in the patterns I did like, and had the same problem. The heart print and blue with white polka dot worked well for us though.
France says
Thanks for your answer Miranda! I think I will try the Minky Bamboo instead after all, since I have only heard good things about that diaper so far.
Kathy says
I’ve used Kawaii Diapers for over a year. They’ve held up beautifully. Snaps, elastic, and velcro are in perfect shape. No leaks, no blowouts. I love that they each came with two inserts. I got mine off ebay, “fantastic_fiesta” and “mayflower_garden” are the seller names (same lady, two seller names). Using ebay, the diapers are cheaper than the http://www.theluvyourbaby.com website (which is the same woman’s website). I highly recommend these diapers!
Courtney says
Autumn,
I was wondering if you could help me. I am new at the cloth diapering and so I decided to try the Kawaii diapers. Well, they are too big for my little one! I bought the following:
1 Heavy Duty Microfleece Inner: Yellow
3 Fun print – 1 Green Sunflower, 1 Circle Dot, 1 Blue Star
1 Black Polka Dot Minky
I would like to get rid of them and just stick to the prefolds and covers. Do you know where I can sell them?? They are all brand new and still in the pakage (except for the two I opened). I just didnt want to mess with sending them back to Canada! I know about diaperswappers, but didnt want to wait a month before I can sell them . Please help a newbie out!!!!!
Autumn Beck says
re-diaper.com might buy them. try and post them on All About Cloth Diapers FB page.
Maureen says
I am also new to cloth diapering and might be interested in buying some of those from you. I know this is not really the purpose of this review, but I was really impressed with everyone’s feedback and would like to give the Kawaiis a try. If you are still trying to sell them, feel free to email me.
Lauren says
Just received some Kawaii’s two days ago and I LOVE THEM!!!!! I have tried out the crossover snap which seems to leave some red marks on my little guys legs:( He is 19 months and 26 lbs. Maybe it was just that one diaper. It did keep him dry! Also used the snazzy minky and absolutely love it! Will be ordering more! Would like to dry the bamboo ones too. Is the bamboo minky staydry? Also used the heavy duty with velcro. Love it!! Will definitely be ordering more of the heavy duty and minky for sure! THanks for recommending these diapers!!!
What is everyone’s favorite Kawaii for nighttime heavywetters?
One more washing question: Do you dry all your Kawaii’s in the dryer or should I line dry them? I know with my BG 4.0 pockets it says to line dry the cover but I was hoping to be able to dry my Kawaii’s in the dryer.
Lori says
I have both the heavy wetter in vecro, and the animal print with snaps for nighttime. I like the animal print with snaps the best. It seems to have just a little higher rise then the other nighttime. During the day, I like the heavy duty velcro, hands down!! They also work for us with a double insert for night.
Rahel says
My fave night time Kawaii diaper is the good night heavy wetter pocket diaper. I find that the cover keeps the baby’s bottom quite dry and they hold up really well.
Anonymous says
So many great reviews…I had to add that I just got my Kawaii Diapers yeterday and I am super pleased with the fit/quality..let me add I also ordered fuzzy bunzz (leaked once today) and bumgenius…Kawaii’s are already my favorite…and for $10 I am going to order more!.I am a first time CD’ing momma and I am thankful to have found your blog! :)
Lauren says
Just wondering if I have to wash the minky’s separate from my other kawaii pocket diapers? I just got some today and can’t wait to prep them so I can use them. The tags on all the diapers say “wash cold” but shouldn’t I wash them in hot??? I feel silly asking this but would appreciate if someone would let me know how they wash their kawaii’s.
Autumn Beck says
I wash all diapers together. I wash in hot. Cold is their recommendation and if a problem arises that you would want to return the product the warranty could be void if all their recs weren’t followed. It’s up to you.
Tara says
We have the One-Size snaps. This is the only diaper we use. My super soaker 16-month old daughter usually wakes up dry. The only time she doesn’t is when she sleeps longer then usual (say 12 hours, as opposed to her usual 10!) or not put on right (liner sticking out). We use them on my 6-week old as well. We have a little more leak issues with her, but I’m positive it’s because they are a little big on her yet.
Alisha says
I have never used cloth diapers but have spent all today looking into it. Needless to say, my head is spinning. I have a tight budget so was looking at Kawaii. Now again, I’ve never done it, but is using pocket diapers easy? Isn’t it a lot of work to stuff them properly? Do they stay in place well? The whole thing has to be washed after every use right as opposed to like the Flip diapers with inserts? So then, why not just use one of those AIO diapers? Thanks for your help.
Autumn Beck says
Pockets are pretty easy. I like that if the inserts get stinky or leaky or old you can treat/replace them without having to toss out all your $$. If you stuff them right out of the dryer it’s easy to keep up with. Yes, the whole thing has to be washed as opposed to the Flip system where you simply replace the liner.
Heather says
I have tried so many different things–prefold/covers, AIOs AIO2, and now the pocket Kawaii diapers. These are by FAR my favorite. I agree with Autumn, just being able to get rid of the inserts and replace without having to buy another diaper totally eliminated my desire to keep up with the AI…. diapers. Prefolds are simple and inexpensive. but another step. I have found these pockets to be simple, easy, now inexpensive, and therefore it is all I will probably ever buy until my twins are out of diapers. Simple to use. Holds a lot. can reuse the cover if needed. or use it to hold your prefolds if you are doing a soak on the inserts. How can you go wrong??? My hubby has thanked me a million times over for purchasing these vs the prefold/covers. Changing two wriggly girls is now a breeze. :)
Brooke says
I may have to try these. We are primarily using Best Bottoms, which I love, but DS is soaking them to the point of leaking as soon as he pees. I have MEOS that I like, but are getting really wet too. These might be a good option if I sell the Best Bottoms. Thanks for the review!
Loresa J. says
Kawaii is the ONLY brand that I use. It’s the only brand that I own actually. I bought 20 of them and they all work PERFECTLY. Their customer service is a little rotten but the diapers are great. They are actually a local company to me so I was able to pick them up myself and save 10% off my order and shipping costs! I highly suggest trying them if you want an affordable but good quality diaper.
Nicole B says
I am due 12/26 and bought tons of Kawaii pockets and diaper covers with prefolds. I know its not recommended to to buy so many without trying them first, but I love the quality for the price. Plus they come with 2 inserts for the price. They are so cute and I can’t wait to use them!
Dana says
The problem I have with the Kawaii diapers is that the elastic in the legs is not consistent in length from diaper to diaper. My daughter (2.5 now) didn’t complain of any pain when I left a Kawaii diaper on her overnight and it caused such horrible red marks she STILL has them – 6 months later. They have significantly faded but I fear she may have scars. :(
That said, I still use the ones that don’t cause an issue but I’m also sure to NEVER use them overnight.
Lori says
In my experience, the suede cloth inner has tighter/stiffer elastic then the micro fleece inner. I have a chunky 15 month old, and have all micro fleece inner with no tight elastic problems. I did order 1 suede cloth inner to try, and the elastic on that one is much tighter. Hope that helps!!
Erin says
I have been using two of the micro inner heavy duty snap diapers with my 2-month-old for a week, and I’m really disappointed that she has red marks as well. I’m hoping I can still use them during the day? She has really chunky legs.
Heather says
I just got mine yesterday!! So far I am very impressed! I am in love with these diapers! Coming from someone who really is trying to save money… I’m glad to have an affordable pocket diaper.. I was using prefolds and covers (econobum) and filps.. Now I know why so many ppl use pockets! Here is a link to pics of my 3 month old in his DOUBLE stuffed Kawaii ultra soft square cross over tab diaper:

I purchased one Minky Bamboo a while back and use it on my 3 year old for overnight. I LOVE IT! I went on to purchase some overnight’s for her and I love them as well!! They are great quality! Not just for being cheaper either. My MIL bought us 8 more minky bamboo’s and I am planning on purchasing some of the one size snap closure’s for our newbie!!

Has anyone tried the Kawaii diapers with a larger child? My 3yo is mostly day potty trained but still wears a diaper at night. I’m such a cloth diaper junkie, and the aplix on my BGs doesn’t hold together any longer. Unfortunately, I noticed that the Kawaii’s are marked from 8-36 lbs, and he’s about 36 lbs right now. I’m just concerned that he’d outgrow them before we really had a chance to use them!
Anna says
HI! My daughter is almost 2 1/2. We’re working on potty training, but the ones that go to 44lbs fit her just fine. I havent’ tried the 36lb ones. But I think the overnight ones are the ones we have. I’m dying to try a minky dipe b/c that is also rated to 44 lbs. Oh and she is 36-37 pounds and about 38 inches tall. Basically there are 2 that go to 44 so I’d stick with those. She still has some room to grow. We also use Happy Heiny one-size and some Fuzzi-bunz large. We did BG 3.0 but she grew out of them a while back. In a pinch I can get one on her, but its really too small. Hope this helps!
Molly says
We have a chunky 1 year old and a skinny 2 year old in diapers and the Kawaiis are our absolute favorite out of everything in our stash! We’ve been using ours a LOT for over 8 months with no problems. I prefer them by far over our Bum Genius 3.0 and 4.0’s and the few other pockets we have. They’re a great fit for both girls! We’re expecting a new little one and other than some newborn size stuff to get her up to the right size for one-size diapers we’re going with 2 dozen more Kawaiis for this little one!
Jill says
I’m looking to try the pure and naturals for our new baby. I emailed her with concerns about the twist/fold suggestion and she said that the pure and naturals now come with all the snaps that o/s diapers have. This was about a month ago so I’d double check again before I ordered but if that’s still the case I’m going to make an order as soon as we find out if it’s a boy or a girl!!! She should really update the pics on those diapers I think she’d sell more.
Holly Piper-Smith says
Thanks for the review! We have been using Rainforest Babies which I really like but my guy is a heavy wetter and leaks out of them within an hour. I’m looking forward to trying some of the Kawaii varieties instead!
Elizabeth says
We started using cloth when my daughter was about 4 months old. I bought a set of Kawaii one size snap closures a couple weeks after we started. We have always liked them. As baby Erin has gotten older, she did become more of a ‘heavy wetter’ and we have had some leaks. I have found recently that using 1 microfiber insert and 1 Babykicks hemp insert or 1 Green Mountain Diapers hemp insert is solving the leak problem (and the leaks were with EVERYTHING, not just our kawaii’s).
Erin is loooooong in the torso and I am concerned we may outgrow the kawaiis eventually but she just passed her 1 year birthday and we’re still using them daily. No issues with wear and tear, snaps working great, dipes still look great too. Her papa is a stay at home daddy and he prefers pockets to flips or prefolds/covers because they are easier.
So, to sum up, Kawaiis are the bomb. Well worth the price!
Kelly says
Thanks for this review! I’ve been looking into cloth diapers now that I am about to have a third child. The start up cost has really been a cause for worry plus many have complained about leaking, snaps ripping and velcro breaking down on even the most expensive cloth diapers. The Kawaii diapers seem perfect but I am concerned about the microfiber inserts. It seems from reviews I have read that it is hard to get the smell out of microfiber. I’m considering purchasing the Thirsties hemp liners but they are very expensive. Any tips on caring for microfiber inserts?
Autumn Beck says
When your microfiber gets stinky there are a number of things you can do: bleach, soak in Rockin Green, boil, run them in the top rack of the dishwasher and if you don’t have hard water use vinegar.
Lori says
I have hard water, and just use Rock’n Green for hard water. No smelly inserts at all. Funk rock works great if you do have a problem.
Myndee says
We recently got some of these, and we are happy with them as well. I was an avid BG 3.0 user, but with 2 under 2, we were having to wash every day. I needed something that was just as easy and useable as my BGs, but I couldn’t afford another stash of them. I read tons of great reviews and decided to take the plunge. They are very comparable to BGs. The aplix doesn’t look as strong, but you know, it’s not wearing as fast as my BGs do. Also, they’re a little bigger, so I am using them mainly for my 2 year old, but they fit my 6 month old nicely as well. I still have to change my super soaker children in the middle of the night (no matter what diaper…even disposables sometimes), so I’m going to order a couple of the nighttime diapers after reading this!! Thanks! :)
Stephanie says
My mom bought some of these for my daughter, I got one as a sneak peek (the rest are for Christmas) and after the first wash I was in love with them, no pilling of the fabric! We have some other knock off’s that are american made and are nice diapers but the liner has pilled, these are awesome! Love them!
Julie says
Do you need to use an additional cover with these diapers? They are so cute, I am thinking of buying some right now!
Autumn Beck says
no cover needed. happy shopping :)
Julie says
Thank you! Everyone seemed to be out of stock, so I googled them and found them in stock at http://www.jackbenatural.com/ in case you want to add that store to your list. I bought one of each kind you mentioned.
Rahel says
I have tried a variety of the Kawaii diapers and I love them! The Good night heavy wetters are amazing! I find that even if my son has worn them at night time the cover on the inside hardly feels wet, but his inserts are soaked! They keep his bum dry. The bamboo are sooo soft and trim, I love them! I love Kawaii!
Tara says
We LOVE Kawaii diapers in our house! I bought them originally because of the price along with one Bum Genius and one Fuzzi Bunz. In my opinion they are at least equal in quality as the Fuzzi Bunz and more then a year later are in much better shape them my Bum Genius. My favorite used to be the Heavy Duty with Velcro but I bought some Bamboo and they are super absorbant and still trim with the 2 inserts. Baby #2 will definitely get a whole stash of them.
Thanks for the review!
Cathy says
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Kawaii’s…I bought them from theluvyourbaby site. In fact, I love them so much that I have sold every single diaper I owned that wasn’t a Kawaii (including my FB and BG). I think the Kawaii quality is equal to the more expensive diapers, if not better….they hold up and stay soft amazingly well. I really can’t say enough good things about them and I’m going to order at least 10-12 more after Christmas!
Salena says
I love Kawaii diapers! I worried about how well they would work considering the price, but now I have built a stash of almost exclusively Kawaii. The velcro is strong (the square tab have come undone in the laundry a few times but it’s still sticky!) and the designs are so cute. And the inserts are definitely my favorite.
Lori says
I have tried several brands, and have gotten rid of all but my Kawaii’s!! I have a heavy wetter, and after a 13 hour night, he is still dry. They hold up well, still look new, and you cant beat the price. Love them!!!!!
Shanon says
I have a one size kawaii that I love, but it isn’t good for my night time side sleeper. She is skinny with chunkier legs but this diaper is pretty big on her. I snap down to the smallest snap and she is 15 lbs. The inner lining is really nice and it is easy to stuff. I did buy 12 because I like them so much, but only for day right now.
Ashley says
i love these! I have the OS pocket diapers. I actually bought a package of 7 off of ebay brand new for only $37! I wanted to CD but didn’t have the funds to spend $20/diaper. These are definitely a favorite of mine :)
Lara says
I absolutely LOVE my Kawaii Diapers!!! They are a little bulky on my little guy, but for the price, I can deal with bulky!!! I have not had any leaks at all with any of my Kawaii Diapers….I could go on and on!! I to was hesitant to buy them because of them being so ‘cheap’….. I wanted to take a chance though and bought 4 of the different kinds, and loved them all so much I went and bought 16 more!!!
You will NOT go wrong with the Kawaii Diapers!!
Tara Pirsch says
Oh My Goodness! You beat me to doing the review! I just got my shipment of mix OS the Tuesday before Thanksgiving! I couldn’t wait to try them out so I prepped four of them right away. I sent them to daycare the next morning (lucky enough to have a daycare that will CD with me and other mommies). When I picked up my little one, the ladies were raving about the new diaper! They loved it. Now we were heading out for a 7 hour drive for the holiday and I just double stuffed the regular OS diaper. It lasted her almost the WHOLE trip. Finally had to stop after 5 hours only because I was hungry! She was still dry.
We love them so much that we will be placing more orders for at least two sets of 10…I think I will be throwing some fancy ones in there too ;-)

I’d be curious to read a follow-up review from you after several months of continuous rotation. As affordable as they may seem, you have to remember you’re buying diaper made in a country whose average wage is approximately 60 cents/ hour, and from a company who has no advertising budget, and no customer support (it’s a one-woman show, as far as I know). If you want cheap, nothing beats fair trade organic prefolds, which still cost lest than these knock-off diapers…. Like anything in life, you get what you pay for.
Autumn Beck says
i’ve been using them fairly heavily for about 2 months. prefolds are great for many families but I don’t prefer using them for many reasons.
Kat says
I’m also not a huge fan of prefolds (although they’re a great backup diaper when I forget to do laundry!!) and I don’t think we would have stuck with cloth if we hadn’t had pockets!
Lori says
I’ve been using Kawaii exclusively for some time now. They hold up great, still look new, and feel soft. They really are a great diapers that is easy on the budget!!! Will never buy any others.
Kat says
We’ve been using them for about 3 months exclusively and they’ve been great. The only leaks I’ve had have been because of build-up and stripping them fixed that.
Tara says
We have been using these diapers in our house for over a year and they are still in awesome shape, equivalent to Fuzzi Bunz and way better then my Bum Genius which velcro won’t stick anymore. While buying a diaper made in China would not be the first choice for most moms, it may be the only option for cloth diapering for them. I can tell you you that I would not be cloth diapering right now if Prefolds were my only option.
The company owner April has provided me with great customer service all three times I have ordered. As for advertising budget, I would rather her keep the diapers at their low price then see a big ad splashed across a parenting magazine.
Myndee says
Hi Susie! I just wanted to chime in here and say that I agree with you about the organic prefolds being the best option for my conscious, but I have to say, the main reason we cloth diaper is because of the price. Also, I do have organic prefolds in my stash, and I gave up on them because my DD would leak out nearly everytime she peed. Also, I have used my kawaii diapers for about 3 months now, in heavy rotation between my 2 kids, and I don’t notice any wear and tear so far. Hope that helps. :)
Jane says
Thanks for this sharing. I have tried another cheap and good one too! I bought the package deal at http://www.niceclothdiaper.com where they came with free wetbags and extra free bamboo inserts which were gorgeous…. considering the fact on money, fabric quality and also absorbency.
Boleyn says
Thanks for the thorough review!! I’ve always been curious about the Kawaii diapers but stayed away thinking that cheaper isn’t always better. I’ll revisit the site to have a look. Appreciate all your work on spreading info on cloth diapering!!
Natalie says
I completely agree with your assessment of this diaper! I got a Kawaii when I used a “free diaper” coupon at my fav diaper shop and I was prepared to be disappointed, but I am a believer after one diaper! One thing you didn’t touch on, but I think this diapers are on the slimmer side (at least for my LO)!
Shantell says
I love, love, LOVE Kawaii diapers! I did a lot of research before my little guy was born because I just didn’t know where to start. I couldn’t see spending $20 on one diaper so I thought I would try Kawaii. I heard good things and the price was right. Definitely a great choice for us! The fit is great, the aplix is still in great shape, no leakage problems, and super easy for “non-users.” I bought a couple of Bum Genius because for the price I thought for sure I would love them even more. Those are the last diapers I reach for. I just ordered 13 minky and can’t wait to try those! A++
Kat says
My husband and I adore our Kawaii diapers!!! We wanted something more than prefolds and covers but couldn’t afford the fancy pocket diapers. I was given 11 of the leopard print Minky for my 30th birthday from a friend who had purchased some for herself (her baby is due any day now!) and we haven’t looked back! We loved them so much we bought 11 more in the black square tab snap. The only problems we’ve had have been microfiber stink but after stripping them and then switching to Rockin Green we haven’t had any issues!!!
Yara says
I have 2 of these diapers, a cow minkee & a blue one with the longer tabs. I got both of them free through a Kelly’s Closet promo. Can’t beat that price. I love them! They are great overnight diapers.
