Please say hello to the owner of Kijani Baby…Valerie Muigai! She is so excited to tell you about cloth nighttime training pants that I think you are gonna love! Valerie is dedicated to not only helping families cloth diaper but she is also passionate about helping her community in Uganda by also employing 15 people! I love when a small business thrives like that! It says a lot about them and the quality of the products! Here’s Valerie…

Kijani Baby Cover

My middle child transitioned out of diapers very easily just before he turned three, but nighttime was a different story! Like many children, my son needed a diaper at night for years after he was daytime potty trained. But when he hit 3 1/2, he started outgrowing his regular cloth diapers. I did not want to start spending money on pulls ups after using cloth for so many years, but I struggled to find an overnight cloth solution for my son.

So I decided to develop one myself – in 2013, I started Kijani Baby, a social business that trains Ugandan mothers to make cloth diapers and other baby products. I worked together with my team of tailors to develop a pattern and design for an absorbent but comfortable overnight solution for children ages 2 to 6.

overnight training pants

Kijani nighttime training pants have:

  • Stretchy sides for a perfect fit on any sized child
  • Pull up design so the child can go independently at night
  • Unique all in two design with a snap in soaker
  • Two layers of waterproof protection (one on the soaker and one on the cover)
  • Soft gussets around the legs for superior leak protection
  • Available in two sizes. The small, which is designed for ages 2-4 and the large which is designed for ages 4-6.

I was thrilled with the way these worked on my son, and we’ve received great feedback from our customers as well. We’ve received these reviews on Etsy:

“So far I love the diaper and so does my toddler. No more wasting money on pull ups.” Katie

“We’ve used this for a month. We have one other brand to compare it too. It’s far better. It’s been a very good night time pull up for my 38lb 4 year old daughter thus far. Everything holds. No leaks. I recommend this, and I like that my purchase is helping people in Uganda.” Kahliah

By purchasing from Kijani Baby, you not only get a nighttime solution for your child, but also an opportunity to empower Ugandan mamas to earn a living and provide a good life for their children.

I used All About Cloth Diapers when my oldest (now 5) developed an allergy around 6mo to disposable diapers. If it weren’t for this site, I would have switched back to disposables because I was having so many issues with fit and cleaning. This site really helped me to understand how to cloth diaper. I have used the big book every year even after my kids potty trained because there are so many amazing deals for everyday household and personal needs! So glad I found this site and the big book!

This is a great place to learn all there is to know about cloth diapers and the care of them. There is no right or wrong way to cloth diaper. All in one's may work best for one child but flats may work best for another child. You will understand how to care for your cloth diapers so they last you. There is a wealth of information on various brands and wool as well. Highly recommend!
