sloomb

There are diapers I love then there are brands that I love. Isn’t it awesome when you know that whatever you choose from a company you will love!?

I haven’t met a Sloomb|Sustainablebabyish fluffiness that I didn’t thoroughly use and recommend. Seriously.

In July 2009, I first sang the praises of the Snapless-Multil fitted.  Because of its excellent fit, absorbency and affordability I feel the need to review it again.

I recently received a Snapless-Multi contrast in Sprout (dark green) as a gift from Sloomb.  I only washed it once prior to using it at night.

Last night, Sterling wore it for …. oh, 15 hours :D and it still had a lot more absorbency left. Sterling is not a heavy night wetter but even if your child is this cloth diaper will hold up for you.

I paired the Snapless-Multi with a Little Beetles Little-to-Big wool cover.

The stretch of the Snapless-Multi ensures that whether your baby is super skinny or nice and round you can get a good fit. There are no snap down rise settings, so to adjust it for your baby you would simply fold down the front of the diaper.  On Sterling I folded it down about 1/2″ and crossed over the wide wings.

Each Snapless-Multi comes with a pin or snappi. Even I, the pin-hater, was able to quickly and easily fasten the diaper.

While the outside of the diaper is cotton terry (snappiable) the inserts are bamboo fleece.  The smooth surface of the bamboo fleece makes for easy rinsing when there is a poopie.

The crotch is wider than the bamboo fitted which allows for additional soakers if needed without causing gaping at the legs.  The leg elastic is encased in a soft cotton terry, preventing red marks on those precious baby legs.

The versatility of a snapless fitted is unbeatable.  Not all “one-sized” cloth diapers actually fit from birth to potty training. However, with a generous measurements all around that you can easily fit to a newborn, the Snapless-Multi really is a one-sized diaper.

Besides the natural stitching and contrasts available at Sloomb.com, you can find customized contrasts at Mami’s & Papi’s, Gen-Y Diapers, Zabi Baby and Cloth and Carry (poppy and graphite).

If you have never shopped at sloomb.com I’d be honored if after you place your first order you fill out the referral form here. It would bless our family :)

The sloomb snapless is my favorite favorite diaper. I am trying to convert my whole stash over to these.

Have you tried happy little clouds? I like that there are only 2 sizes as opposed to the obf diapers that have many sizes. My newborn grew out of his way faster than I was happy about and really live that diaper.

Would a Snappi or Boingo work better for fastening this diaper? I’ve never used either

So, if I don’t want to pin the diaper for nightime use I would buy the Organic bamboo fleece fitteds from Sloomb? I’m new to cloth diapers and have a very heavy wetter. Thanks!

You can use the snappi with the snapless fitted. But if you didn’t want to do that either then you would go with the fitted.

        April,

I use the snapless multis with no pins or snappis at night and have NEVER had a leak. The 2 covers I’ve used over them are the Blueberry OS and my Flip. They both work great, and I just make sure to put the covers on tight enough. However, I recently bought a wool cover I’m going to lanolize, and for that I have a snappi just in case I need it. The multis snapless will grow with your baby, so just keep that in mind! ;)

Thanks. It’s going to take some time to get used to all of the cloth diapering lingo. :-) I had no clue what snappi’s where until I just looked back on the sloomb site. I will see about doing that instead. Now, if I buy a wool cover to use at night with the fitted….how often do I have to wash/prep it? I know nothing about using wool. :-)

When using your wool cover at night, sloomb has step by step recommendations to care for it… it only has to be washed every few weeks unless you get poop on it. If it’s wet when he/she wakes up, just hang it up to dry, and it will be ready to use again the next night. Now that’s low maintenance ;)

I’m getting ready for a new LO in a few weeks and this will be my first time cloth diapering and I will admit to pouring over the internet for reviews, etc. Your sight has been a regular go-to and I especially enjoyed the newborn reviews. I’ve gotten a lot of recommendations for fitted for the newborn stage and have purchased 8 fitted (so far) and a few tiny AIOs for the grandparents to help out with.
I also have a few larger diapers, one size pockets diapers or AIOs on the way. I’m trying to figure out how to round out my stash to get the most bang for the buck.
Are fitteds only recommended for nighttime use past the newborn stage? Or can I also use them during the day? Is there some reason that pockets are more recommended for daytime use past the tiny newborn stage? Thanks!

Fitteds can be used anytime. It’s all about what you prefer. I used fitteds with Paisley (my 3rd child) when she was in diapers. To get the most bang for your buck I’d buy used ;)

OK, I think I am missing something. I tried my new sustainablebabyish last night and while I did not have any leaks, I am not sure I am sold on these. Truly it is the whole fitted diaper thing that I have problems with. I can’t see how these could be comfortable when they get wet all the way around them. In pockets and hybrids they only seem to get wet in front and back not all the way around their sides and everything. I will try putting it in a pocket because I did love the absorbency. Can anyone explain fitteds to me so I can learn to love them as much as some of you seem to? Thanks

For some babies, a fitted is all that will work the whole night through.

I love our bamboo fitteds at night, and yes they get wet all over but it causes no discomfort and my 4 month old has never had a rash. They are so much trimmer and more absorbent than a comparable pocket. When they get bigger a pocket will work fine but at this age fitteds rock! And it holds in BF poo like nothing else, great when you only have a few covers and don’t want to do laundry all the time!

I use GroVia for a night time diaper. I love it. My little guy is a heavy wetter and these work for the whole night. I also had an insert that came unravelled, emailed the company with a copy of the receipt and they were very quick to send me a new insert. They were great!

Hey there, what a great website! We are thinking of starting our little one on cloth diapers because of her sensitivity to disposable. I read your review on sloomb and am fairly certain this would be the brand to try…but where do we start! Is there something that you would recommend most for sensitive skin? I am overwhelmed with this!

With sensitive skin you have to go through trial and error. Sometimes sensitive skin means rashes if they baby feels the wetness (sbish multi fitted isn’t stay dry so baby feels the wetness). Other times sensitive means that microfleece and/or suede cloth next to baby’s skin will cause rashes (these are stay dry which means baby doesn’t feel the wetness). Also still, sensitive skin can react to detergents strongly. I’d recommend going with a WAHM detergent in their sensitive recipe.

Autumn… just went to Cloth & Carry bc they are having a Black Friday sale, and I bought 2 sloomb fitteds for $15.20/piece! SCORE! They have colors that are exclusive to them, and they will be shipped tomorrow (as opposed to Sloomb, which is on pre-order ONLY right now)… SO EXCITED TO GET THEM!! We’re looking for our nighttime solution! Rooting for these! :)

What do you suggest to go over them? I’m not sure if I’m ready to invest in wool right now? I have Thirsties duo wraps… any other recommendations?

I’ve used many covers over it: Flip, Thirsties, So Simple…in addition to various wool covers. All work well.

I always love your reviews Autumn! I have tried the nighttime fitteds and they were the only thing that worked for my DD for a long time overnight.
I didn’t realize these were only $19 each, I’ll have to try a couple sometime…

I DID get a pair of their interlock longies in September and I loooooove them! Best interlock ever!

This is unrelated to this post, but I wanted to tell you Autumn that I really enjoy reading your blog. None of my friends with babies use cloth diapers, and it is interesteing to hear what other people have to say about the different types that they use and I like hearing what you have to say and seeing the pictures you post of your kids as they get bigger.

When you use a wool cover over a fitted do you still use a PUL cover? I have one wool cover and am having trouble figuring out the best way to use it! I like the fitteds under a cover but am trying to find a night time solution.

Wool would be the cover. Just make sure it either came lanolized or you lanolize it.

I used All About Cloth Diapers when my oldest (now 5) developed an allergy around 6mo to disposable diapers. If it weren’t for this site, I would have switched back to disposables because I was having so many issues with fit and cleaning. This site really helped me to understand how to cloth diaper. I have used the big book every year even after my kids potty trained because there are so many amazing deals for everyday household and personal needs! So glad I found this site and the big book!

This is a great place to learn all there is to know about cloth diapers and the care of them. There is no right or wrong way to cloth diaper. All in one's may work best for one child but flats may work best for another child. You will understand how to care for your cloth diapers so they last you. There is a wealth of information on various brands and wool as well. Highly recommend!
