We’ve had a few warm sunny days but couldn’t last. We’re suppose to get 50+ degree weather this Easter weekend…can’t wait! I’d like to try cuteybaby diapers myself. I have a chunky baby are these better for the thinner ones? I love adding a neat diaper to my collection.

We finally had a couple of beautiful warm days in a row after the longest, coldest Florida winter ever (warm and cold being relative, since we ARE in Florida, lol). Little boy ran nakeybutt, so I don’t have any diaper pics!

Very cute! Spring has totally sprung here in Montana. But that only means that it’s not freezing and snowing every day. Certainly no bare legs and feet out of doors for a while yet! It’s a beautiful day today. Sunny and 50F.

so jealous. won’t get much above freezing here in massachusetts today. supposedly we’ll have 70’s by the end of next week, though… can’t wait for spring. this blog is dangerous! i have a large rotation of prefolds, bg aio, old school bg pockets, sustainablebabyish, and now i want to try a rumparooz! have to have another kid to justify my cloth diaper obsession!

I noticed Nicole said that the Rumparooz is fleece. Is there anywhere that you’ve reviewed fleece and wool dipes? I’m on my last straw to find something that my dear DS’s skin can handle and not get rashes and burns from.

Are you referring to diapers with both fleece and wool combined? I’m not aware of any with a fleece inner and wool outer. Off the top of my head, cloth diapers I’ve reviewed w/ a fleece inner: rumparooz, fuzzi bunz os, apple cheeks, anne marie padorie… Wool covers I have reviewed: sustainablebabyish, woollybottoms. I don’t know if I reviewed them but Sugar Peas and Luxe are good too.

Are you sure the rash is from the diaper? Could it be from lotion, creams or soap or shampoo, laundry detergent you are using? My daughter had a rash on her face, I removed all products thar contained fragrance–even lavender. Rash disappeared. A baby’s skin is thinner & 5x’s more permiable absorbing those chemicals right into her body & her amune system. Just because a product says baby, smells pretty, or says all natural doesn’t mean it is safe for all babies. I’m not blowing smoke, I am speaking from experience and I am a licensed esthetician.

Well after an exhausting two weeks, here’s my story:
I recently made the decision to cloth diaper because of the reactions my son was having to disposables. Since making the change though, he is experiencing a totally different reaction which is, in my opinion, a million times worse. After a few (sometimes 1, sometimes 2) days in cloth, the skin on his bum is red, swollen, and hurts to touch. He cries out in pain when it is touched.
After calling Cottonbabies, since I was using the Flip system, they said to switch to organic instead of using the microfiber. Did that and it still happened. Then I switched to Indian prefolds. Happened again. Then they said switch detergents. I switched from All Free and Clear to Country Save. Happened again. Then I tried the Envibum system and it happened again.
I then switched to Earth’s Best chlorine free disposable diapers. And he’s fine and dandy. I think I’m at my wits end and am ready to maybe just let it go but heard so many rave reviews about wool and fleece that I’m willing to try one last thing.

Asashia! How stressful! Have you tried a diaper that has a microfleece lining? Some examples would be Fuzzibunz, Happy Heineys, Rumparooz, Blueberry and Thirsties. Paisley (my 3rd) had horrible reactions to suedecloth (the lining of the flip microfiber inserts). I hate to suggest that you buy something else that might not work but it sounds like your last option before using disposables.

It’s definitely worth a try. Can you describe the rash? Are there pustules or sores? Or is it just an all over red?

It’s red all over with what looks to be like welts. No liquid or anything comes out but definitely red and swollen.

I would try microfleece first. I can’t remember what detergent you said you were using but I would only use a completely natural, scent free detergent. Something like Soft Rock by Rockin Green. The rash sounds like an allergic type reaction.

So cute! We just got our first rumarooz! I am SO in love! The fleece could not be any softer and the fit is fabulous -on our chunky thigh guy! Sterling has the cutest thinnest legs I have ever seen! So yummy Mama!!!! :)

Adorable pics :). I have been loving your blog! I have a question for you and am not sure where the best place to ask is… so I am going to ask here and hope for the best ;). I am a first time mom and am currently about 6 months pregnant. I realllllllly want to do cloth diapers right from the begining. My husband is reluctant though and will only try it if I make it super easy for him. I have read through all your posts for newborns and recommendations. I still need some advice though.
We really don’t want to go the fitted or prefold route as it just seems like more work than I can get my husband to buy into. I would love to just start with all in ones or pockets from the beginning. I am concerned though about the cord for the first couple weeks. Other than lil joeys are there any all in ones or pockets that are lower rise or have a cord button down for those really early days that you recommend? I plan to get some one size diapers to try to keep my initial stash going longer, but will supplement with some sized as well if there are any great fitting pockets and AIO’s that you recommend right from the beginning. I would really appreciate any help/advice. I should also mention I am in Canada (since some stuff isn’t easily avail here).

Ami, at first I wasn’t aware of any other newborn all-in-ones besides Lil’ Joeys. But, I googled it and found the Prorap All In One. I love prorap covers for newborns so I know that the fit will be great. This is the site that came up for them first http://www.jardinediapers.com/Prorap-All-in-One-Diaper-p-59.html but I’m sure there are other stores.

First off, I am sooooo jealous of anyone who can say warm and sunny in the same sentence right now! Here in Alabama it is neither.
But I am even MORE jealous of that adorable Rumparooz. I am dying to try a G2 and get some of those awesome prints. How much do you love them? It’s okay to rub it in, lol!
