One of the most unique things about cloth diapers is the community that surrounds them. Work at home moms (WAHM) are the backbone of that community. Wink Diapers is a perfect example of that WAHM hard work and perseverance! I had the opportunity to not only try out Wink’s double gusset covers and inserts, but I also received a beautiful hand painted cover! It’s not part of their standard line, but it shows how much that momma cares!
I received this diaper to review free of charge, however all opinions statements made here are true and honest.
Wink Diapers is a fairly new brand that was founded in 2014 by Bailey Duke, who is also mom to three kids. This was my first time trying her diapers, but as I wondered around Wink’s Facebook page, I saw comments from happy customers mentioning things like super fast shipping and dropping words like quality and affordable. All good things to read!
I received a one size cover, hemp insert and a hemp/cotton insert to review. Right out of the package I was impressed with the quality. In addition to covers, Wink Diapers also manufacturers and sells all in ones (AIO), wipes, wet bags and rash cream. Also recently added are newborn sized diaper covers which are identical to the larger covers except are designed to fit 6-16 pounds.
The covers are one sized and labeled to fit 8-35 pounds. They are tuckable. That means there are flaps at the top and bottom inside of the cloth diaper that holds the inserts in place. There are three snapped rise settings. I had them on my 30 lb, 27 month old daughter, Sophia on the largest setting and I honestly think these would fit fine until at least 35 lbs if not slightly longer. The hip snap, which helps to prevent wing droop, was on the last setting, however there was still lots of room left in the waist and rise.
One of my favorite features of this cloth diaper is the double leg gussets. I love this because you can cram almost anything into a cloth diaper with double gussets and NEVER have to worry about leg gaps. This also makes it a good choice for nap or night diapers for that reason.
Wink prides itself on using sustainable materials as well as being manufactured by facilities with fair trade regulations.
The covers are made of TPU. That means it is heat bonded and uses less chemicals during manufacturing making it more environmentally friendly. The inserts are made of organic materials.
When I told Bailey how big Sophia was she mentioned how she was at the top end of the sizing. But again, I want to mention, this is not one of those covers that tops out way below the listed weight. Sophia isn’t the biggest baby, but she does have squishy, kissable thighs. And they fit just fine here even at 27 months old.
The inserts and cover are well made and have both washed and worn well. I’ve been using them for approximately three months now and I’m still happy.
I’m asked this question all the time…Where can I buy just a cover?
Now I have another option…Wink! They are sold individually and in bundles. The bundle is a great deal too as 6 covers cost 59.99. No need to have to buy everything in order to get just the one piece! This way you can buy exactly how many covers and inserts you want.
The tuckable nature of the inside of this cover makes it a good choice as well. You of course can use their inserts, but the beauty is that you can also use your own. They will all fit!
A pad folded prefold or flat also work great as the flaps keep it all from moving around and bunching. Just make sure you are using something that is long enough to make it under the flaps and you are good to go!
I’m trying something different this time!
