Update…this shop has closed since my post was written. I am honestly excited to share this with all of you! I discovered Vital Rain in an unlikely place for cloth diapers. At a wine festival! If you’ve never been to one, there is a lot of wine…and a lot of drinking wine! But there are also lots of natural health products like cleaners, makeup, creams and even cloth diapers. I was in Heaven! Wine and cloth diapers all in one place, lol!
I was trying some lotions and my mom was sampling Vital Rain’s Joint & Arthritis Balm. I noticed a few super cute cloth diapers out on the table. I mentioned that I wrote a cloth diaper blog and started asking questions.
Vital Rain is based out of Connecticut (I love made in the USA and Canada products!) and is owned and operated by Paul & Lidia Corey. It began with the birth of their son Jax and a desire to reduce the amount of toxins in their home and in their lives. They now provide a large variety of 100% pure, natural and organic products. I’ve had the pleasure of trying quite a few of their products in addition to their Tushies Cloth Diapers and I was quite pleased with all of them.
While I did receive products for the purpose of review I did not receive any other financial compensation. All opinions and statements made here are my own and are honest and true.
I have a bunch of things I want to tell you about and I know that I can have the tendency to go on and on sometimes. So I’m going to try to keep it brief…try being the operative word.
First up….Vital Rain’s Tushies Organic Cloth Diapers. I received an Into the Wind Tushie One Size All in Two. The outer cover is made of an organic cotton print covering a hidden layer of eco-friendly polyurethane laminate, a layer of organic super heavy bamboo/cotton fleece, and an inner made of organic super heavy bamboo/cotton velour. What that means is that it not only has the waterproof PUL, but the additional layer of bamboo/cotton fleece provides another highly water resistant layer to keep baby dry. The inner bamboo/cotton velour is snugly blanket soft. This is an all in two or AI2 which means you can reuse the cover a few times by just replacing the soiled soaker with a fresh one.
The soaker is made of organic cotton & bamboo velour. Also squishy soft and very absorbent. Vital Rain’s sizing says all cloth diapers including their fitteds and hybrid fitteds are made to fit 8-35 pounds. Sophia is around 30 pounds now and while on the upper limits of that range, she still fits comfortably at the largest settings. I have to agree with their claims of premium materials. You can see and feel the high quality of everything used. The only thing I wish I could change is adding a way for the insert to say in place in the cover. I prefer snap in AI2 inserts. I also think these are reasonably priced handmade diapers.
Next, Vital Rain Diaper Change Wash! I have to say this is one of the better formula’s I used. It comes in its own spray bottle and includes all natural ingredients such as chamomile, calendula, witch hazel, tea tree oil, lavender and soothing aloe vera. I found that this spray made messy clean-ups easy. If you need something to soothe and heal red or rashy bottoms you could try the Tushie Ointment out. It’s made of coconut oil, calendula, comfrey root, St. John’s Wort, beeswax, vitamin E oil, tea tree oil, and calming lavender. It’s easy to apply and is cloth diaper safe.
Finally, I also tried Vital Rain’s Shampoo & Body Wash. I have pretty exclusively used Earth Momma Angel Baby Shampoo & Body Wash since Sophia was born. This has similar ingredients and cleans just as well. The one big difference that I LOVE is that Vital Rain’s version is tear-free! Earth Momma Angel Baby’s is not. There are three naturally scented options. The Whispering Lavender version we used was a great choice for Sophia’s nighttime baths. Lavender naturally soothes and calms hopefully giving everyone a nice night of sleep!
Remember how I mentioned that my mom was trying out Vital Rain’s products at the wine festival as well. She ended up buying a Joint & Arthritis Balm and she loves it!
